A comienzo del pasado siglo contaba con 155 habitantes, a mediados ascendió a 232 y finalizo con 227 habitantes en 1996.
As can be seen in this brief evolution of the population, the village has grown considerably in numbers, but still a shortage of residents is palpable.
This is mainly due to poor production conditions in this place, until recently conditioned the activities could be developed, limited to extensive livestock farming.
Space has traditionally been poorly connected to the rest of the peoples of the region, which was accessible only by trail and cattle trails.
With the construction of the highway to Playa Blanca Yaiza has been revitalized to increase in number of new homes. However, the settlement is still scattered in the landscape, highlighting the contrast between her white houses and dark lava.
