The Saline Janubio
La Caleta de Janubio, appeared represented in the map of Lanzarote of engineer Leonardo Torriani performed during
the last years of S. XVI. In 1895, because of the excellent conditions offered by the lagoon, the salt Victor Fernández built the salt flats. This is the largest in the archipelago. They make also a place of high environmental and scenic value. Today belongs to the heirs of Jaime León and Cerdeña.
Since its declaration as a Natural Park in 1987 the salt flats have suffered repeated attacks. The southern end, partially lost its route because of extraction of aggregates. In 1994,
it was declared Site of Scientific interest by the Law of Natural Spaces Canary.
